What problems can occur when waterproof materials are used for a long time?

After long-term use of asphalt waterproofing materials, some coating film cracking, bubbling and other phenomena will inevitably occur. Today, let's take a look at what problems will occur after long-term use of asphalt waterproofing materials, and how to repair them after problems occur?

1. Coating film cracking

(1) There is no flexible sealing treatment at the end seam of the roof panel, when the roof panel is deformed, the coating film will crack;

(2) The thick waterproof coating is applied at one time, and it is easy to crack after the coating film shrinks and the water evaporates;

(3) The quality of the waterproof coating is not good, and cracking occurs after the water evaporates.

Repair method: first remove the waterproof layer of the coating film at the crack and its vicinity (expanded to 100-150mm), leave a sloping chasm around the shovel mouth, and clean the base layer, and then apply the same waterproof coating with qualified quality After the coating is dried and formed into a film, the next coating can be applied to make it reach the required film thickness.

2. Coating film bubbling

The main reason is that the quality of the waterproof coating is not good, and the technical performance indicators have not been reached.

Repair method: first remove the waterproof layer of the coating film at the bubbling area and its vicinity, leave the shovel mouth as a sloping chasm, and clean the base layer, and then apply the same waterproof coating of good quality in different parts.

3. Detail node leakage

The main reasons for the leakage of some rainwater such as gutter, cornice, eaves gutter and flashing are as follows:

(1) No additional layer of carcass reinforcement material is added to the gutter, cornice, and flashing or no sealing treatment is performed;

(2) There is no organized drainage cornice, and the sealing material is cracked or peeled off at the closing of the coating film, resulting in the opening of the coating film;

(3) The carcass reinforcement material is laid in water at the water drop mouth, or the length of the carcass is not enough to extend into the mouth of the cup, and the sealing treatment is not done before adding the additional layer.

Repair method:

(1) If the carcass reinforcement material is not added, the in-situ coating film waterproof layer should be removed. After cleaning the base layer, the auxiliary carcass reinforcement material should be added, and then new waterproof paint should be applied over it.

(2) If the sealing material is cracked or peeled off, it should be removed and filled with new sealing material;

(3) The cracking of the coating film at the node is repaired according to the above method.
