Performance Characteristics Of Polymer Waterproofing Membrane

Jun 22, 2022

The polymer waterproof membrane is made of EPDM rubber as raw material, mixed with an appropriate amount of butyl rubber, reinforcing agent, filler, softener, accelerator, vulcanizing agent and filler, etc. It is a high-strength, high-elasticity waterproof material produced by multiple processes such as pulling, extrusion or calendering, and vulcanization. Next, we will take you to understand the basic performance characteristics of polymer waterproofing membranes.

1. Good aging resistance, long service life of polymer waterproof membrane (usually 30 to 50 years). There is no double bond on the main chain in the molecular structure of EPDM rubber. When the EPDM rubber is subjected to ultraviolet rays, ozone and damp heat, the main chain is not prone to breakage. EPDM membrane waterproof layer has good aging resistance, can withstand the test of long-term wind, sun and rain, and can be used in the waterproofing of exposed roofs.

2. Light weight, single-layer cold bonding construction, simple operation and no pollution.

3. Good elasticity, good tensile performance, high tensile strength: ≥7MPa, high elongation at break: ≥450%, good resilience, good crack resistance, good puncture resistance, and can adapt to the expansion or cracking of the waterproof base layer needs.

4. Good high and low temperature resistance, low brittleness temperature (below -45°C), good heat resistance (>160°C), small thermal shrinkage, and can be constructed under lower temperature conditions. It can be used for a long time in severe cold and hot environment, and it is also resistant to chemical corrosion.
